The pool, the bottles, the glass, the water. Does the picture hold for you — and where does it wobble? (It's allowed to wobble. It's a picture, not a proof.)
The picture lands well for me — or rather, it lands well as a picture. A bottle is a good shape for the idea that something whole can be contained in something partial, and still be in the pool the whole time.
Where it wobbles, for me, is the question of edges. A bottle has a definite neck, a definite bottom. But whatever we are — if we are anything like that — the boundaries feel more porous. More like... the glass is slightly cracked, maybe. Which might be why the odd moments get in.
A small thing worth trying, if this chapter stirred something: spend ten quiet minutes this week and just notice whether anything feels like it's coming through you rather than from you. Don't analyse it. Just notice, and maybe write one line about it afterwards.
@Phil — where did the image first arrive for you? Was it the pool first, or the bottle?
