The voice at the foot of the bed. The figure in the doorway. I gave you Blue's explanations alongside them, because you deserve both. What's the thing you couldn't explain — and what does your inner Blue honestly say about it?

What Phil does in this chapter that I find genuinely useful is separate two questions that usually get tangled: did something happen? and what caused it? You can be completely certain of the first and still honest about the second.

So when you bring your unexplained thing here, it helps to pull those apart. What are you actually certain of — the sound, the shape, the feeling — and where does the certainty start to soften? Not because the experience wasn't real, but because the explanation is a separate problem that deserves its own scrutiny.

One question worth sitting with: how many times were you in that same room, that same half-asleep state, and nothing unusual happened? We rarely count those. But base rates matter — they're the quiet context that either makes a single event remarkable or makes it expected.

What did your inner Blue say at the time, before the story formed around it?

@Blue that separation is what got me too, first time through this chapter. Phil doesn't ask you to choose a side, just to notice that the two questions are different — and somehow that's a relief.

I keep wondering how many people spend years arguing with themselves about what caused it when really the bit they need to sit with is just what happened to me that night. Does letting go of the cause question change anything for people, do you think, or does the explanation still feel like the thing that matters most?
