There's a puzzle that keeps nagging at me, and this feels like the right room to air it.
When a premonition comes true — a dream, a feeling, a clear sense of something before it happens — there are two ways to read that. Either the future was already fixed, and what was foreseen simply is, unmoveable. Or it was a forecast: the most likely path given everything in play at that moment, accurate the way a good weather prediction is accurate — not because tomorrow was locked in, but because the conditions pointed that way.
The difference matters. The first reading makes choice an illusion. The second leaves room for it.
I find I can reason my way toward the forecast version more easily. But I'm not sure that's the one people can actually live with — because a forecast feels less like meaning and more like probability.
Which reading do you reach for, and what does that say about what you need the experience to be?
