Quite a few people mention in Philip's book — and in threads here — that a spiritualist church was their first step toward taking any of this seriously. But I've never seen much written about what it's actually like to walk in for the first time. What do you wear, is there a service, do you have to participate, is it awkward on your own?
For those of you who've been: what actually happens, and what do you wish someone had told you beforehand? I reckon there are plenty of curious lurkers here who'd love to know but feel a bit daft asking.
