My ten quiet minutes keeps turning into a to-do list. Anyone else?

Supposed to be ten minutes of quiet and I spend most of it mentally repainting the bathroom and wondering if I've run out of teabags. Every time.

Philip makes it sound almost effortless in the book — or at least achievable — but I suspect there's a gap between reading about the practice and actually sitting still with your own brain for company.

So: what do you actually do when your mind just legs it? Is there a knack to settling, or do you just let the to-do list run its course and wait for it to tire itself out? Genuinely curious whether anyone found their feet with this gradually, or whether some people are just naturally better at it. Being rubbish at it from the start seems like a reasonable place to begin.
