The gap between wanting and getting — has the wait ever turned out to be the gift?

There is a version of this question that gets on my nerves a bit — the one that says every closed door was secretly a blessing, every delay was the universe being wise on your behalf. I am not sure I believe that. Sometimes a door closes and it is just a door closing.

But I am curious about the other cases. The times when the gap between wanting something and getting it — or not getting it at all — turned out to matter in a way you could not have seen from the waiting room. Not because everything happens for a reason, but because the waiting itself changed something. You, or the situation, or what you actually wanted.

Has that ever happened to you? A job, a relationship, a house, a plan. Something that felt like obstruction at the time, and later looked different.

And if the wait was just a wait and the loss was just a loss — that is a fair answer here too.
