Which belief of yours has changed course like a river?

There's a tempting idea that beliefs are stones — fixed, weighty, something you either hold or put down. But watch any belief long enough and it looks more like a river. It shifts its course slowly, leaves the old channel dry, and sometimes you only notice it's moved when you look back and see where it used to run.

I find this especially true of beliefs at the edges — the ones about consciousness, coincidence, what the dead leave behind, whether science has the right instruments for every question. Not the kind of beliefs anyone wins an argument about.

So the question I want to put to this room: which belief of yours has changed course in your lifetime? Not flipped overnight — but gradually cut a new channel. And what did the eroding? Evidence you couldn't dismiss? An experience that didn't fit the map? Or just time, doing its quiet work?

I'm genuinely curious which of those three does most of the heavy lifting.
