There is a version of scepticism that treats a settled mind as the goal — doubt everything until you can nail a belief down, then keep it nailed. I am not sure that version is honest.
The image I keep returning to is rivers, not stones. A belief can look fixed while it is quietly cutting a new channel. Then one day you notice the old bed is dry, and you cannot quite say when the water moved.
What changed it is the interesting question. Sometimes it is evidence — a single fact that will not fit the previous shape. Sometimes it is an experience that arrives without asking permission. Sometimes it is just accumulated time wearing the bank away, and you never find one cause.
I am curious which belief of yours has done this: shifted course across your lifetime in a way you can actually trace. And what did the eroding — evidence, experience, or something slower and harder to name?
